Six months later

It’s your typical dream making Hollywood story. Write a script, sell it to the studio, get paid three million, it gets a green light, Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman star, Speilberg directs, movie opens and makes 300 million…you become rich and famous, marry a starlet and live happily ever after.

Okay, not so much.  Actually, nothing of the sort…not even close.  Here’s the reality…Come to Hollywood and struggle…I mean really struggle.  I’m talking 29 years old with stress induced adult acne, impotence and irritable bowel syndrome lying in fetal position on a twin bed, sucking my thumb weeping like a school girl because life in Hollywood just isn’t working out how I dreamed it would.

Then a relatively new girlfriend (or girl I’m sleeping with…she wasn’t really my girlfriend….okay, are you sensing some commitment issues?), anyway, she pees in my bed.  I’m talking emptying her bladder!  Then wakes me up so I can help her clean up.    Her pee!  Yeah…I know….disgusting!  Anyway, as I am scrubbing my mattress (my new matress) with bleach I say to myself, “there might be a story here...”

Twelve days later, the Six Months Later pilot was written and two days after that while sitting with an actor friend (Ryan Alosio) talking about the girls we were “hanging with” and how we weren’t “technically” dating them, even though we spend four nights a week with them, don’t call any other girls and aren’t sleeping with any other girls, that they still didn’t count as “girlfriends”...  Welcome to the world of the Hollywood dating life where everyone is in denial…complete and total denial!  Anyway, I give Ryan the pilot, the next day he calls me in a frenzy and says, “we have to shoot this!  Like, NOW!

A week later, having enlisted (begged is closer to the truth) the help of family and friends, (I’m talking Mom was the caterer, craft services and assistant to the production designer!), we found ourselves shooting over the course of a weekend (as in 2 days!), a 35 page script with 11 practical locations, in a torrential downpour (yes, in LA) for about the cost of what an agent at CAA pays to lease their Range Rover for a month.  Seriously!  Ambitious?  Hell yes!  Would we do it again for that much?   Not if we want to keep those friends!  Actually, we all had a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat!
